how long do most liver cancer patient live

I have a mother in law with liver cancer, Seems to be doing well But how long will this go on for. What is the average time frame.is what the Dr said 1 to 1 1/2 years with treatments.

 

Hi:  My dad Fought liver cancer for 15 months.  He had all the treatment but unfortunately passed form liver failure.  Fighting liver cancer takes a major toll on the other organs.  Good luck.  My prayers are with you and your family.

My dad was diagnosed with hepatocellular carcinoma on October 26, 2007, and he passed away on March 22, 2008.  This is such a cruel disease.  We were told that there was no treatment available to him since he had numerous tumors throughout the liver.  The doctors told us he would probably have 6 to 9 months left, but he didn't make it quite 5 months. He had about one good month after his diagnosis where he felt fairly normal, then began going downhill fast.  The timeline really varies a good bit from patient to patient.

I will pray for you and your family.  I know how much strength it takes to care for someone so sick.  Stay strong!

Thank you for sharing It is very hard to see someone you love fade so quickly. Both my grandparents died of cancer I do know who hard it is. My prayers are with you as well thank you.

Sorry to hear about you loss and along with others have lost love ones. I have just been told that I have HHC Stage IIIA or Stage IV, because of numerous tumors in the left and right liver lobes. I have no invaisions into my blood viens in my liver, yet. I was told that with treatment, I will probable last for about 13 months. I am despertely seekeing all options. I am to start Nexavar treatment along with seeking second opinions. I am considering should I take the Nexavar, because I am not feeling sick, however I am losing wieght and body tone. I will be extending my self to using whatever funds I need to slow this diease down to extend my life. Looking for some information from someone who is presently in treatment with similar type of HHC. Please, advice as to Cancer Treatment options and Doctors used with positive results is greatly appreciated.

My dad had an MRI two weeks ago and we were told that he has three tumors in the liver and it's now in one lymph node near the liver. After a month of being on nexavar, he will have another MRi to see if the tumors have increased in size. If they have not, that means the drug is working for him. We are seeing a liver cancer specialist at UCLA and he indicated that he has a couple of patients that have been on this drug two years and are doing well. He said that it is showing promising results for those the drug works for. I know this drug is very expensive, but there is help for those who live on fixed income. Good luck to you. there is no generic version of this drug. It is my understanding that the drug costs 5,000 a month.

Hi, my husband also has liver cancer.  He took the Nexavar for about three months and it seened to be working good.  Then we had a car wreck andit quit working.  We were going to be sent home iwth no other options and I requested being referred to M.D. Anderson in Houston.  He is now in a clinical trial of Avistin infusion every 2 weekd and a pill of Tresavar( a pill every day.  He has been doing this for 12 months now and the tumor was at a stand still but on the last ct scan it has grown a little they will do another ct scan in 8 weeks to see if it has grown again.

Go to M D Anderson in Houston Tx.  My husband took Nexavar for 3 months and it quit working and the cancer starting growing.  Have been going to Texas for about 13 months now on Trasavar and Evastin (chemo drug.  He feels great.
