Mandible Tumor

I had a mass on the right side of my jaw that kept getting bigger. It hurt some, especially if food rubbed against it or anything like that. I could even feel it getting bigger at times and would get a sore throat just on that side. (I had my tonsils out when I was 19- I am 29 now) I went to my dentist and he did xrays. He told me he was unsure of what it was, but it was also showing up on the xray.It was NOT involving any teeth, just the jaw bone itself. He referred me out to an oral surgeon. The oral surgeon wasn't for sure either and wanted a biopsy. It was going to cost me A LOT of money, so I contacted an ENT who agreed to do the biopsy. He tried to do it in his office, but it was such a solid mass it wouldn't break. I had surgery last Tuesday to remove it. They shaved it off my jaw and sewed me up. They told me it would be a little while for pathology results because it was so solid, they would have to wait for it to soften. So I guess I have a couple of questions. The ENT had an emergency surgery he got called into and I didn't have the opportunity to speak with him.1. Since they just shaved it off..even if its not cancer, don't I run a risk of regrowth? 2. Should I still be in this much pain. My jaw is killing me and my cheeks are very bruised. The mass was right below my teeth on the right side. In between my inscisors and molars. The stitches keep digging into my cheek, so I am sure that doesn't help.3. Can such a solid mass end up being cancer? It showed as s a round bright spot on the xray. I know cancers in the jaw are rare..but what else could it be?They really just said they didn't think it was anything serious, but want to see the path report first. Any ideas or suggestions are greatly appreciated!
