Hi, Jackie(62) my mum was diagnosed with AML last year, she went into remission after serious chemotherapy treatment but unfortunately it returned six months later. She has just completed another session of chemotherapy and is back in remission - but where to now? the doctors have found potencial bone marrow donars for her but her haemotologist is hesitant to suggest it because of the high risk and side effects, no one can say for sure what to do. Is it her only chance? I was just wondering if anyone else has had a similar story...Jackie is a fighter she had breast cancer in her 30's and due to the radiation has had to have a stent implant in her heart, the breast cancer returned in the other breast 5 years ago and now AML...during all this she has remained positive and actively involved in the family business which she started...but now she needs to decided about the BMT and all the possiblities.any advise or words of encouragement would be greatly appreciated.
