Cancer Treatment Centers of America

HI, I'm doubling up on the message board, but I want to make sure that I cover all bases. Does anyone have any experiences with Cancer Treatment Centers of America? My father has liver cancer, which is rare in the United States. We are frustrated with our current doctor because he basically told us that there was no hope. Not in those words, but it was something to that extent. He wants to "wait and see", which goes against our thinking. Why wait when there are options out there. Someone suggested CTCA as an option. I've read all of the messages about it so far and I found a couple that make me nervous. They talk about how they got stuck with the bill and all. My father's insurance company said that in is in area for them and they would cover 100%, except for things that are not scientifically proven to help (meaning Vitamins, etc) This makes me a bit nervous. Has anyone been in this situation? Thanks, Eva

Never Settle For 'no Hope'

My father was told to 'go home and make preparation to die.' They thought he may have six months. that was 9 months ago...he is now free of any growing cancer. He had colon tumor with liver mets - discovered on Dec. 23. He took 4 6-week cycles of 5FU/Leucavorin and avastin. His primary shrunk so much so that they had trouble locating it when they went to remove. The DOZENS of liver lesions were reduced to 2 - all resectable with a lobectomy. He never missed a day of work and was in good physical condition prior to this one doozie of a medical issue. We were told the best place for the best results and aggressive surgery was UPMC in Pittsburgh. Dr. Geller there is an awesome liver surgeon - dad will do clean up chemo, but all in all, they got it all, and his 14 lymph nodes studied were all clear! www.livercancercenter.upmc.com is a wealth of info for anyone searching. stay positive and believe all things are possible with great doctors, a positive outlook and prayers of those you love.
