I hope things went well on MOnday. I apologize for not seeing this message sooner.
My father had colon cancer with liver mets and diagnosed in Dec. The first surgeon told him to go home and prepare for the end. We took another opinion and started our fight with chemo and just recently had 1' of his colon removed, 60% of his liver resected and his gall bladder and appendix removed. He is 6 weeks post op and continues to do well. He begins 'clean up/consolidaton' chemo again this Friday. He did well with the surgery and was out of the hospital in less than 2 weeks;. He is walking 2 miles a day already and is feeling stronger. ONe thing the doctors attribute things to is his positive attitude...if your mother's goes bad, help her get it back. And the one thing to keep in mind is when they come out of anesthesia and for the next few days, they will act opposite as is normal - they don't remember anything for at least 4 days. Just make sure the doctors control her pain. Ask to talk to a pain manager. We went to UPMC (Pittsburgh) and had super care - I hope you get the same.
