My dad has been diagnosed with stage 4 liver cancer about 6 weeks ago. He has been being treated for bladder cancer for the last 5 years, finally last spring April 2008 having his bladder removed. About 6 weeks ago he was diagnosed with stage 4 liver cancer. They determined that it did not originate from the bladder cancer but suspect the digestive system. Last week the doctors did a colonoscopy and endoscopy but found nothing of interest. He is scheduled for the pill cam to check the small intestine. He has been experiencing high fevers of 103 104 every evening with bladder spasms, but has no bladder. Today he was taken to the ER because the fevers were high and were also during the day not just at night. When he was in the ER they thought he had a heart attack, however it turned out to not be a heart attack after a heart cath. They have known that he has an infection around his mytro valve and there is an infection in it. His lungs are filled with fluid and he is in the ICU. They may have to put him on a vent tonight. He lives in Atlanta and I am in San Diego. Does anyone have any info on this chain of events and have any ideas for me on the progress and where he may be in the process of the liver cancer. My step mom does not seem to know much. Please if anyone can give me any info I would really appreciate it. Thank you bijouxkc
Hi Bijouxkc - Sorry to hear about your Dad. We will be praying for you and you Dad. Due to the multiple problems he is experiencing, it is difficult to say just where this is leading. If you can get to Atlanta so that you could be with your Dad and your Stepmother so that you could meet with the Doctor and get a better feel for his prognosis.that would be great If not, see if you can get the Doctors name and telephone number so that you could get in touch with him, that would be the second best bet. Please keep in mind that even though the situation is difficult he could survive this. Please try to keep your chin up and be positive - Good Luck and God Bless.
