Subject: Experience in These Alternative Meds Anyone?
Date: 08/27/2005
When my mother was first diagnosed with liver cancer - I jumped headfirst into alternative therapy treatment. The doctor then decided to put her on Xeloda/Gemzar. That worked for about three months and quit working. Long story short, she is now in hospice care and is no longer recieving orthodox cancer treatment. We have decided to begin homepathic remedies again. Here is a list of things I am going to start trying and would love any feedback that anyone can provide on any of them:
Essiac Tea; MSM; Fish Oil and L-glutamine (for "wasting syndrome); Milk Thistle; Oxygen drops; CoQ-10; Aloe in pure form; Noni Juice; Shark Cartilage; and L-carnitine (for the dementia caused by ammonia overload).

Any experience or suggestions are greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance

I tried Essiac tea for approx. 1 yr. It didn't seem to make a difference. I have colon-rectal cancer which mastified to my liver. I was operated on in 2001.

Couldn't hurt. Go to a Dr. of Chinese meds or a Naturapathic Dr. and see what they suggest. There are many ways to fight this disease but one must be extremely pro-active and look at all sources. Get as much information as you can then decide which would be best for your mother.

I have used Graviola and so has my wife! I personally think it is an alternative supplemnet that really helps irradicate cancer, along with weveral others. Research it on the internet.

Subject: How Are You Doing?
Date: 08/30/2005
I'm in similar situation to you, i.e., corectal cancer (Diagnosed June 14, 2004) which just now has metastized to the liver.... I had radiation and chemo before surgery and chemo again after surgery.. My CEA was always zero until I started the post-surgey chemo then it began to climb and is now at 55.. It's taken 7 months to find out where it metastized to (They knew it had because the CEA levels shot from 0 to 10 to 20 to 30 to 55) All the MRI, Scans said "No cancer", but now the PET scan says 2 tumors in liver..

How have you been feeling since your surgey in 2001? What treatment are you doing for your liver? Was surgery for your liver an option? Thank you, Kathy

Thank you for your reply. I really don't want to give her any more than necessary, but am not quite ready to give up hope. I do hope you are doing better.

Seems I did read some information a few months ago about Graviola. I will look into it, and give it a try. Thank you.

I defeated lung cancer 14 years ago and stage 3 breast cancer (which was caused by the radiation i took from the lung ca) 3 years ago..
the alt meds and vitamins i took were similar to what you are giving your mother. but I also added to that large doses of vitamin c 10000 to 15000 mg per day and fresh bee pollen. and most importantly fresh flax seed oil (I used Barleans) and cottage cheese...

Thank you for the information. I had read some things about vitamin C, flax seed, and cottage cheese. She would probably enjoy eating cottage cheese. Does flax seed come in a capsule? It's so wonderful to hear of your recovery, and nice to know there is still hope for those that are suffering from this awful disease. God Bless.

It does come in capsule form but I perfer the liquid i put it in my salads, you could put it mashed potatoes after its all mashed just mix it in on serving.. or you could mix it with anything, but it seems that the combination with cottege cheese is favored by many..especially for those who are having a hard time eating too much food. some times just a little bit each time through out the day depending on what she can handle.
