any experience with yttrium 90 sirtex? i understand it's a radioactive seed=microsphere resin implanted straight to the liver. indicated for nonresectable liver lesions. any survivors with that treatment? and any precautions to take? is it safe being with children in the same house?

How big were the tumors in your liver. I have a daughter with a 14cm tumor in hers. It's very rare.FHC.

Thanks for any info,

Kellie

In January of this year, I had Y90 radiation injected by a therasphere treatment at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester. There were tumors on both sides of my liver, so they could only do the treatment on one side. They later performed chemoembolization on the other side. Both treatments have been effective, however the therasphere with Y90 was the most effective. They can only do a limited number of these treatments because it is radiation. It is an effective treatment. I would suggest that you have a very experienced Interventional Radiologist perform the procedure as they are supposedly the best.
