Adenomyosis

I had my ovaries,Fallopian tubes, uterus, cervix, and the ligaments that went from my uterus to my spine removed.  I was having pain and long periods where I'd have to wear two overnight sanitary napkins at a time to keep from bleeding through.  I believe I was told that I had Adenomyosis by a couple of gals that came to my house from Fred Hutchinson Cancer Institute as they were doing a study.  My gynecologist told me nothing and the surgical part was so traumatic and painful that over a month later when I saw him again ( I was in and saw his RN two weeks after) I was still crying because of his treatment of me and the pain as he was the only DR. on staff that didn't believe in the pain pumps.  I woke up in pain and kept waiting to be "hooked" up for pain relief and it never came.  3 hours later when I asked, the RN came in with a shot and asked me arm or rear.  I was cut from hip to hip and it was like being harpooned by that time.  They wouldn't put it in IV but said it had to be IM.  I was never told I had cancer but to be cleaned out like a Halloween Pumpkin for what he said was "You've got black spots" after a biopsy is questionable.  He said the surgery would take under 1 hour when I went in and my husband said that the Dr. came out after three hours.  Is this normal?  I was told I didn't need paps any more but wondering if I should seek advice elsewhere. Anyone have similar experience and does this sound like cancer to you? I'm currently fighting 2nd year of aggressive thyroid cancer, and my aunt was diagnosed as having ovarian cancer a few years ago. CLL

I think the above is what they called it.  It was explained by someone that it means when endometriosis grows outside the uterus, etc.  Anyone had this happen to them?

I am sorry for your doctor's treatment of you.  I suggest you talk to your hospital's patient advocate or ombudsman about your experience

If you are unsure of diagnosis, ask for copies of your  pathology, radiology and surgical reports.  I havew never seen reports of any association between adenomyosis and cancer.

As a cancer survivor myself, I understand your concern, especially when you were given incomplete information.
