My husband Truman, age 62, has bladder cancer.  It has not invaded the muscle, but it has spread to the right ureter and kidney.  He is sceduled to have the ureter/kidney removed.  He has undergone 2 courses of BCG since 1997.  I just feel like if we leave the bladder we are playing russian rulette with the other kidney and his life.  We have been to Vanderbilt University in Nashville and saw Rodney Davis.  He says to leave the bladder and remove the kidney.  He does the neobladder but says most men can not relax enough to empty it.  Somebody give me some input.  I would love to have phone numbers to where my husband and I can talk to you and dicuss the options.  If you have a story, email me or call at --Message edited by CancerCompass staff. Please review CancerCompass Member Guidelines at http://www.cancercompass.com/common/guidelines.html--and ask for Debbie or Truman.

Hi Deb or Truman,I have had my left Kidney removed in 2005 from Renal Cancer and then they found Bladder Cancer a few months later. I have had 9 surgeries removing tumors from my Bladder since. I get checked every 3 months via Cystocopy. Dec 2006 they did BCG and most of 2007 was non-invasive tumors. One nasty tumor came back in January of this year. It was removed and they used a Chemo drug called Mytomycin directly into my Bladder at the end of the procedure, again 30 days later. So far this year in June and September, my bladder is clear. I have to believe my change to the Drs. at City of Hope and an even better diet has helped. Don't really know what the word Remission means but I hope and believe that thats where I am at. If not, I will keep fighting this until they find a cure. I am 59 years old. I ride mountain bikes 3 times a week, watch my diet and drink(lots) all my water from my NEW water system at home. Never give up! Keep what you can and get constant check-ups. Things will get better.Denny Warner
