My M0m recently had a whipple and because she is only 107 pounds the Dr. inserted a j tube.  It was used a few nights at the hospital but then she was discharged.  The surgeon says a j tube feeding is not something medicare pays for.  Is this true?

Medicare definitely pays for J tube feedings at home.  My husband had 34 radiation treatments and his esophagus was burned.  He started out with a G tube but had to be converted to a J tube because he kept vomiting his tube feedings, which lasted about 2 months.  We did not have to pay a dime for the home tube feedings.  We do have a Medicare supplemental insurance so I imagine if you do not have that you would have to pay 20% of the costs.
