Anyone Else Out There With Tracheal Cancer?

Hello, I am Barbara Waldie and I have adenoid cystic carcinoma of the trachea. I had it 16 years ago, at the age of 22. I had the tumor resected, did radiation and now it is back. We found it again in the same place back in 2000. I have been to Denver and Boston and have had some core out procedures done. They don't last very long. Chemo doesn't work on this cancer, and I cant have anymore radiation. I live one day at a time by the grace of God. I have a husband and three children. I just wanted to know if anyone else has heard of this, or has it, or has a family member with it. It is extremely rare, but am looking for some support. Thanks, Barbara

Hi Barb,

My husband was recently diagnosed with a chrondosarcoma malignant tumor of the trachea.  This is supposed to be very rare and does not respond to chemo.  He is currently doing radiation therapy but they are unsure if this will shrink the tumor.  The tumor is very large but is a low grade tumor.  If this does not work, he will have to have a total laryngectomy.  Is this the type of tumor you have and how are you doing.  I would love to hear from you.  Please email me at
