yes, those symptoms are from decadron withdrawal.  In my opinion you have been weaned way too fast.  I have had to wean my husband several times off of decadron and both times it took months.  This last time they gave him hydrochordizone to help wean him and it was a tremendous help.  It is a steroid but does not have those horrible side effects of decadron. It starts your adrenal gland to give you energy. Decadron shuts off your adrenal gland.

What is your diagnosis?  Do you have a brain tumor?  My husband has a brain tumor, a glioblastoma.

HELLO

 MY  diagnosis  IS:

  • Cerebral cysticercosis is caused by the pork tapeworm. The infestation
is acquired when people eat food contaminated by feces or eat the larvae. This
disease has recently become relatively common in the Southwestern US. Depending
on the stage of the disease,
it could present as a mild form of meningitis, or more severe form, or even
cause sudden death. The most common symptoms are seizures. Few medications can
stop the progression of the disease. However, once the cerebral form is
acquired, the treatment is usually given to relieve the symptoms.
  • and in my case its in my brain and it gives me sizure and it called
  •  neurocysticercosis.

I got this 12 years ago when i was in India i was seizure free for all this years  first i wa on dilanten and tegretol but last 5 years i am on trilaptal ,then after my last mri it shows new cycts so dr put me on antibiotics

and decadron   for 4 months ,but now i dont take it any more ,i am weak and i just want to sleep .

My mother was diagnosed with GBM about 14mos. ago, she had the tumor removed and has done the 5day per month of Temador and she is doing the PB medication under the care of Dr.Burzyski in Houston. She remains free of any recurrant tumors, however, she is having terrible withdraws from Decadron. Everytime she gets down to about 4mg twice a day, then 10days later she starts having seizures. Thanks to all of your posts about weaning slowly we have learned a lot. Our problem is that we can't get thru to the doctors who think that every time she has a seizure they assume its another tumor, therefore they will not address the need for help during this withdrawl period. My mother has gained about 30 lbs, she is so swollen that her legs are weeping fluid, she has to walk with a walker and she is so out of breath by just the slightest movements. Why can't they see past this terrible diagnosis of GBM and address the present problem. It looks like my mother my died from the side effects of Decadron rather than the cancer.

Hello

my mother Kathleen has GBM IV.  She was weaned completly(veryslowly) off of Decadron.  She seemed fine at first and then began having speech and cognition problems.  We later found out that she was still having brain swelling 5 months after left side brain surgery and radiation treatment.  The doctors, again, put her back on Decadron and again the symptoms diminished.  My feelings are very mixed about this medication and I really would like to know how long we should expect to see symptoms of brain swelling.  It is scary for my mom.  She can't find her words and at that time could not even read.  We could tell the swelling was reduced because she improved her cognition.  Anyone else have a similar experience.  Kathleen was diag in Dec 08.  Tumor was completely removed ( 99.9%).  Thanks for being here.
