Prostate Cancer Gleason 9-Bone Cancer Stage 4

My husband has been diagonosed with both within a week. He's lost 40 lbs, 70 years old and has been treated for back problems. We found out that it was cancer.

He is in the hospital, trying to get pain controlled and today will be day two of the series of 10 radiation treatments. They gave him a Lupron shot last Friday.

I'm getting mixed signals from docs on what to expect. One seems hopeful, the other says pain control and that the radiation will stop the aggressive cancer (he did not have anything a year ago) and it may be just months. I'm not sure what to expect. His PSA level was 406, up from 16.

How do I cut through the crap and find out, or is that what you find out once the radiation treatments are complete?

This is also how we found out my 51 year old husband has prostate cancer - back pain then a PSA test with a bonus score of 750.  We had a short break with the hormones which took away the bone pain but alas he has now gone homone refactory and within the next month will either be starting a phase 3 blind trial of aberitone or chemo.  Now with the bone pain back he is needing some pain meds stronger then Aleve but not wanting the "Good Stuff"  Does anyone have any reccomendations?
