Please, please, please get another doctor! He should be taking your health more seriously than that. Can you call your general practitioner and get a referral to somebody else? Can you call the local hospital and see if they can recommend somebody? Your body is too valuable, and good healthcare is a right. I truly hope all of this goes well for you.

RE: HPV+, Lesions found, Colpo sched--insight, please!

Thank you so much for your reply, I did follow the links and they are very insightful!I agree, another doctor may be needed. I just called today to see what the results of my pap were, and the nurse informed me they didn't do a pap, only cultures (which detect STDs, results were negative). I asked are you sure he didn't do a pap, because I have a colpo scheduled for Thursday. She stated no, he most likely scheduled the colpo because of records from my previous doctor. He hadn't even seen the records from my previous doctor!! Why on God's green earth would he NOT have done a pap smear when a) he is right there anyway, b) I made him aware I was HPV positive at my last pap 7 months ago and c) he could visibly see lesions on my cervix right then and there??? Doesn't a pap help determine a grading of the cells, and point the direction for the most accurate biopsy during a colpo?? Help!!

I'll give you some links to help you understand HPV and CIN. But to be very honest, I think you need to get another doctor. There is too much going on, and at the very least, a second opinion could help you. This is one of my favorite links. It's older, but it gives such good information. I always like to post it.http://www.mjbovo.com/Women/DysplasiaRx.htm Here is one of the few doctors I have encountered who still knows each case of dysplasia is different and each woman's body is different, so treatment has to be customized. He doesn't push the most inexpensive treatment option on women as the only choice.http://www.gynalternatives.com/default.htm Some more.http://www.imaginis.com/cervical-cancer/treatment.asp http://adam.about.com/reports/000046_7.htm http://www.jotrust.co.uk/about_cervical_cancer/cin__pre_canc I also found this link, which gives a good, full overview of HPV and the progression from infection to cancer.http://www.merckmedicus.com/pp/us/hcp/diseasemodules/hpvd/na

HPV+, Lesions found, Colpo sched--insight, please!

I went to the GYN last week because I had a growth show up overnight in my groin. I had extreme fatigue, and severe lower back pain, along with joint pain in my shoulders, and intermittent pain in my legs, esp the right leg. With the statistics of cancer in my family, it scared me and I set up an appt. w/my GYN thinking it was a possible lymph node. I went in to have it checked out, and gave him my history (new doc to me). Here it is: I have had bladder prolapse & interstitial cystitis diagnosed @ 8mos. ago after having severe trouble trying to urinate, and my bladder was retaining urine. I had great pressure at my pubic bone area, esp. after being on my feet for any length of time. My back was killing me, my pelvic hurt, and I couldn't pee. At that time, I had an ultrasound done on my pelvic region, which showed uterine cysts, but nothing of concern. About the same time, my abdomen starting swelling and hurting---it would swell to look about 5-6mos pregnant and would get hard as a rock. Sometimes it was hard to catch my breath. Had a CT scan done of abdomen, and an endoscopy done, and was dx'd w/irritable bowel syndrome. The GI doc related it all to painkillers (tramadol) and muscle relaxers (flexiril) that I took for ONLY 2 wks prior to all of this mess. Although symptoms have always remained, some days are better than others. Now I presented all of this to him, along with the fact my breasts were very sore and tender, usually for 6-8 wks at a time, with a 1-2 wk. break in between. In April 08 I had my pap smear (a couple months late), which came back normal, but was found HPV positive. My GYN said no more yearly paps, you MUST come back every 6mos for paps. I had the Mirena inserted. Here I am today:Gyn says the knot is a nabothin cyst (sp?), and proceeds to do my pap. He visibly notices during the pap that I have "sores on my cervix" that are "on my cervix AND above my cervix" (sores meaning lesions, I assume).I asked him if it would be Herpes sores, or Herpes related, and he stated "Oh, no, I believe it's HPV related." He states the Mirena is exactly where it should be. He takes blood tests and sets me up for a Colposcopy in 2 weeks. I came home from the pap and was bleeding, even shedding "layers" and tiny clots when I used the bathroom. I had dull aching pains in my uterine area for several days, and is now not as severe. I am still bleeding, and that was 9 days ago. I put in a tampon, and it was killing me, and had to remove it. The walls of my vagina were very tender. I guess I'm wondering if anyone has had visible lesions at their pap, and are HPV positive. Something tells me this combined with my other symptoms isn't very good. I just want to know, and I want to get started healing and feeling better!!! I am tired of hurting, feeling tired, and feeling like I am 90 years old---I feel like everything is shutting down in my body. If the lesions are visible, then is that most likely a serious stage? Please advise....good or bad. Would love to hear similar stories. My heart goes out to all of you.
