Sister Sarcoma

Hi I was wonderring if someone can give me some information. My sister was diagnosed with a sarcome last year on the nerve near her spin. She went through surgery and the surgeon was sure he removed it all apart from a few cells that were to be sorted through radiation. This was last November when she had the surgery and the doctor said the radition would not benefit her. The sarcoma has now reocurred on the lung and is sizeable. She was firstly told that the sarcoma was low grade but now the doctor is saying he doesn't know the grade of the reocurring one and that he's not sure if the surgery he was going to perform will work.

This is very frustrating for her and us as we have no idea and no hope as what to do. We are hoping the tumor is still low grade and I'm sure the next stage will be biopsy on this to find out. Can anyone offer a word of hope or information please???

I would advise you to get a second and third opinion if possible.  How can you possibly tell what grade it is without a biopsy and was there no follow up from November until now? I think sometimes we have to be very proactive in our own health care as some of these doctors are very laxidasical when it comes to their patients......good luck

I would recommend MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas. They have a Sarcoma center with doctors that specialize in that type of cancer. My husband's doctor is Janice Cormier. They took wonderful care of him.
