Hi I was first diagnosed with GCT in 1997 following a hysterectomy. Last year it reoccurred in the abdomen and I had surgery to remove 3 tumours. 3 months ago it reoccurred again and this time the tumour was just below my diaphragm and sitting on the liver. More surgery. At the time I had back ache that didnt appear muscular and I was proven correct. What is troubling me now is that I have had my routine inhibin blood tests and will see Gyn Oncologist in 2 weeks for results but I now have lower back pain. I gusee I am just looking for anyone that has had similar experiences.

Surgeries Weaken Core Muscles

I have had my second recurrence of GCT, and am also a physical therapist. Are you getting inhibin A and B blood tests monthly, and CAT scans periodically to track potential growth? It is always good to be mindful of possible reoccurrence, and to consider that the number of surgeries you have had to the abdominal wall do weaken the muscles that support the spine. I have had this myself and see this often with clients, and so from personal experience and training, work with them to strengthen the core muscles with lumbar stabilization/simple pilates exercises. Doing both (tracking and strengthening) will be helpful.
