i have the same burning feeling in my throat that goes in to my ears, and i havent started any treatment yet. Maybe you or someome else reading this board can help me? I havent been able to get any answers anywhere.I have been diagnoised with stage 2 throat cancer. I have been thr all the tests leading up to the surgery that im suppose to have,( laser, I beleive) I just dont know what to expect. Will that mean a hospital stay,,, in and out surgery,, I just dont know, its hard reaching the doctor for answers until the time comes for anything thats already been done, In the mean time , its driving crazy wondering what to expect. If you or one else can help me with this , it would be greatly appreciated. I hope that all goes well for you and that you get the answers your looking for. thankyou

Hi t&j11106 As far as the pain in your mouth and throat, it should subside soon. Remember that the Radiation continued to " Cook " for roughly 2-3 weeks after your last treatment. Do you rinse/ gargle with the salt and baking soda solution ? I often used that, just prior to eating because it semi numbed my mouth and throat. I also ate and drank everything at room temperature. The cold fluids seemed to burn worse than the hot foods. After several months, I was able to eat and drink things warmer and colder, it takes time. As far as your energy level, I was told by my Oncologist that the Radiation stays in our bodies for roughly one year and it is a side effect to our energy. There will be good days and bad for awhile. This is kind of our new normal for awhile. Try to get as much nutrition in yourself as possible and some sort of exercise. It took a few months before I didn't have to take a nap each day after work. My Best to You and Everyone here

ok I was wondering what to do to get thru the burning in my throat, when I drink water it burns from ear to ear including my throat, I'm so ready to start eating again. It's been 7 weeks since my last treatment and I am on a feeding tube and really want to get back to eating real food cause it's been 5 months since I've had real food. Also when do you really start feeling like yourself again...I mean I get energy at times then there are days when I can barely move around?
