Serous Cancer spreading to lungs

My Mom who is 61 was diagnosed with Stage 1 Uterine, Stage 4 ovarian cancer in October of 07.  She had a complete hysterectomy and we were told that it was a "serous" cancer which is a very aggressive form.  There was also a spot he removed from her omentum.  She underwent chemo and radiation.  Once that treatment was completed they did a PET scan and noticed that she had a spot in her groin.  In July of 08 she had that cancer removed and between the time of her PET scan and that surgery the cancer had grown an inch in size.  It has been wrapped around a lymph node, nerve, blood vessel and her appendix.  So she had all that removed and once again chemo.  She has had her 4th chemo treatment and went for a CAT scan yesterday and they saw another spot on her abdomen and two spots in her lungs, but they were very small.  This was just more bad news I dont think any of us were prepared for.  They are not going to do anything at this point.  She will just continue her chemo and in a couple of months they will do a combined PET/CAT scan and see what is going on with those spots.

I am just curious of the fight we are in for.  How long does she have?  How can I help her through this being as supportive as I can?  Anyone have any insight for a desparate individual.
