My Mother-In-Law was just diganosed with Stage 4 Ovarian cancer.  She also was diganosed with Diverticulous.  She has been in the hospital for almost 3 weeks and they orginally were going to operate to remove the mass from her, but then decided to try Chemo first.  They gave her Taxol and Carboplatin, but had an alergic reaction to it, and now they have stopped the treatment.  This is where we are at right now, i'm sure the doctors have a plan but anyone have any input for me?  She is a breast cancer survivor of 11 years...

I had an allergic reaction to Carbo and I went to Dana Farber in Boston where they do a desensitization treatment. No one ever suggested this, I found it myself through research. This process is a way for you to receive the drug that you are allergic to. The doctors are fabulous!! If you are interested, let me know and I will send a private message with all the info. I live on Long Island in NY, so I had to travel and stay in Boston, but the hotel is attached to the hospital, so it is convenient. By the way I am stage IV, dx'd 04/04.
