I had a bilaterial masectomy in July., I am still having this burning, stinging pain in my chest. It is very uncomfortable. My doctor said it is form the nerves being cut and that it will go away in a few months. It has been almost 4 months since my surgery and it feels no better. I have tryed darvact and vicidon, motrin but they only take the pain away for about an hour and then it is back. Has anyone had experience with this? What are you taking for pain? any tips would be greatly appreciated. I have young sons and I cannot seem to function without all the pain.

I'd like to suggest you look into massage therapy,  I see a cranio-sacral massage therapist who also does myo-fascial release work on me.  Helped with pain and range of motion.  I was very clear about when anything hurt too much, esp, pulling on my radiated skin, so treatment probably went a bit slower but it's definitely been worth it.  There are other body work therapies out there also---see what's available in your area.  Hope this helps!

p.s.  How's your diet and are you taking supplements to help you recuperate?  It all helps.

I had stevere pain in my chest after my mastectomy.  It took close to 9 mos for mine to pass.  It was nerve pain.  Some days it would drop me to the ground. (literally).   It sucks.

The good news it does go away.  What worked for me was hot compresses.

I hope this helps.

I had a bi-lateral masectomy a year and a half ago. Last summer my implants were put in and proceeded to fall out..I had to under go another 2 surgeries. Three months later I began getting horrible stabbing pains under one arm. My doctor said there was nothing he could do. I went to a pain doctor who put me on Elavil and it has practically taken all the pain away. I take 50mg. every night. Hope this helps.
