Hi Karen, I wish there was a time period. I had my mets removed about 18 months ago. They do a scan every three months and are looking for 2 years cancer free to ensure it's not returning.

Hi Karen,

I was told a year.  I had a liver resection in July, 2007 and went 11 months with no signs.  In June 2008, a pet scan showed a golf ball size tumor which I had a "RFA Radial Freq Ablation" on in July.  I am probably going to check out the treatment at Burzynski Clinic in Houston after my PET scan in 3 weeks.  I have had several other treatments too if you have any questions.  Regards, Kim

I had a liver resection on 10/2/06.  Tumors showed up on 1/07.  I have had 3 rounds of chemo since then.  So far the tumors shrink, but after I am off treatment for a couple of months they grow back.  I am not a candidate for RFA or the liver pump.  Has anyone had the SIR Speres?  What else has someone tried.  DenyseC

 There are so many factors regarding recurrence of disease after removal of tumors. Are there mets outside the liver? Is the disease HCC, cholangiocarcinoma or other type of primary liver cancer? Were the margins "clean" at the time of surgery? How many tumors were removed and were any smaller ones left intact in the liver? Some people go many years cancer-free after resection surgery, but others have recurrence after only a few months.

Your oncologist should be able to answer your questions. Insist on a detailed answer! It is your right as a patient. Good luck to you.

I had the Sirt Spheres in March, 2007 for 7 tumors in the liver.  The tumors shrank enough that I was able to have a 40% liver resection in July, 2007.  I went 11 months with no signs and June 2008 had a tumor reoccurance.   I had a RFA done July 15th.  I believe I have another since my recent blood test showed elevated CEA level.  I am now considering the Anti Neoplaston treatment at the Burzynski Clinic and receive Peptide shots and Vitamin C infusions at my local Clinic.

Hello Kim. I'm pretty much in the same shape as you. I've had the
Y-90 Therasphere--two treatments.My cancer isn't back at this time
however I have severe fibrosis in my left lobe--the lobe that was hit
real hard with the Y-90 back in June of this year.

I've heard that the antineoplaston is for folks with brain
tumors. You mentioned that you'd be receiving it. So, it appears that
they are extending it for people with hepatocellular carcinoma. Is this

What  hospital/clinic did you have the sir sphere inserted?  Did they go through your artery in your groin or through a hepatic pump attached to your liver?

This is my first visit and I was wondering if you had a golf ball size tumor on your liver, were you ever jaundice?  Also, do you know what your bilirubin level was?  My Dad had metastatic liver cancer and the Dr.'s here said that his bilirubin level was too high to help him.  Waiting anxiously to hear from you or anyone who has had positive feedback from dr.s with a high bilirubin.  Sincerely Terri A.
