However, there is no cure for oligodendrogliomas however, there is hope to have a long life expectancy up to 20 years or more, so I have read in research. It just depends on location, how fast it grows, other health problems. Generally they do not start chemo or radiation until the glioma becomes grade 3-4, with grade 2 they usually do the surgery try te resect out as much as they can, then watch and wait with MRI's every 3-6 months. If you would like to talk or have more questions I would like to help the best I canAmber

I'm no doctor, but I've read that low grade gliomas are treated (here in the USA) pretty much the same way high grade ones are, at least initially. Surgery(if viable), radiation with concurrent oral chemo in the form of Temodar, and then maintenance doses of temodar if they choose to be aggressive. As far as a 'cure', I guess it depends on your definition of cure. Many gliomas can be put into remission for many, many years. The issue is that they tend to return at some point, and when they do they have a more aggressive makeup. Here we are monitored regularly to look for recurrence.Again, not a doc, bu I hope the info was helpful.
