Hello:

I would like to know if anyone here has tried dendritic cell vaccine for kidney cancer and the results.

Also, I understand there is another type of vaccine called Trovax. Anybody have any info on the early trial results of it? I thought I came across them somewhere.

Thank You:    Krys

there was a previous post on this general subject but I do not know how to find it   -    a friend who had his tumor & kidney removed at U of MI is now starting a trial on this type of program  -   as I understand it, they  removed lymph nodes & are using them to create the vaccine, which will then be injected into his body

I wonder if this could be used in conjunction w/ Sutent or if the two are mutually exclusive?

The best way to find RCC survivors who may have had the vaccine is to join the Kidney-Onc email support list.  See http://cancerguide.org/kofaq/ .

Hi Trovax is being trialled at the Christie Hospital, Manchester, UK.  The initial results in animals were quite amazing however I think the results in Humans have not been quite so amazing so far. The trials are ongoing. In animals tumours injected with the drugs directly had  tumours dying apparently and the problems with humans is getting the drug into the tumour. As you know blood supplies created by tumours are a bid thready and not as robust as ordinary veins so when trying to get a vaccine through those veins its a bit hit and miss or so I read. I would google trovax and see what comes up. Sorry I cant be more helpful because I only know what I have read. There are results being posted about the drug though.
