That is awesome news! Is she still on chemo of any sort?

I was Dx with GBM4 June 2007. 2 craniotomies. Temodar, radiation, and since Jan 08 I have been on avastin only every 2 weeks. I just had another stable, clear MRI.

Doc is taking me off all treatment in Jan09. He thinks we may have it licked, and he doesn't want to keep me on Avastin while the tumors are asleep.

Congrats again. It's so nice to win a battle or 2 in this fight.

Everything normal except hair has not fully grown back and she used to teach aerobics in 80s and early 90s and never weighed  more than 125 lbs-now weighs about 160 and is not on steroids, but doctors say that this is ok-not wanting her to loose any weight.

Husband Jack is 54 months out from a GBM IV, had all the standard treatment and continues to partner with his docs because of the side effects; so it is important to take responsibility for your own health, try to maintain a momentum (keep moving if you can), be selective with your alignments with friends/family and try to week out negative, draining forces because all your strength is needed for the on-going battle.  As a caregiver and Jack's mightiest supporter, I make it a mission to take great care of myself, enjoy the positive experiences and minimize the negatives in my life as I put the focus on supporting Jack while at the same time, realizing that the caregiver very much needs/deserves to maintain the highest quality of life in the on-going battle.  Good luck.

my sister was dx in april 08 with GBM IV and underwent surgery to remove the whole tumor. Did her rounds of chemo and radiation, had a month off and started on Temodar. She just had her MRI results on the 4th and everything came back clear. Her dr's told her if her next MRI is clear then she can do 2 more treatments of her Temodar and be finished. Im just wondering if anyone who has someone who has already had this horrible disease and has done treamement, if 9 months of treatment seems short? also Im wondering if there is a daily dose of medication that survivors of GBM take to keep the cells asleep? Im just scared that if she finishes up treatment, that within a short period of time, the cells may awake and start to grow again. My concern is why give them a chance to regrow if you can keep them asleep??

Thanks for listening
Melisa
