Valarie: I was diagnosed with stage 3 endrometrial cancer in 2000. I was 64 at the time and had gone through menopause, so I knew the bleeding I had and the severe cramps had to be something wrong with me. I finally went to the doctor who had taken care of me for 18 years, and she finally decided it was time to have a biopsy. She had ignored me and the signs thinking I just wanted attention. I had to have a complete hystorectomy and did't agree with the kind of radiation they were going to give me. They told me I would have to have a colostmy and also would loose control of my bladder for the rest of my life. This was NOT AGREEABLE with my husband or myself. I went to the MaGee Women's Hospital in Pittsburgh, Pa. and had my radiation therapy. They used an IMRT machine which radiates only the places where the cancer was removed, not the entire stomach area which involved other organs not cancerous. I had 25 of these treatments, one a day Monday thru Friday and 2 internal treatments each a day apart. I'm proud to say I'm a suvivor and DO GET A SECOND OPINION. Don't rely on just one doctors' word. Sally

Am Searching in the Web about this sickness. Our Mum went through an Hysterectomy last week. Unfortunatly, the Tests they did on her before the Operation showed a Negative Report on Cancer.

Only after Looking into the Uterus later did they see:

Microscopy:
Sections show an Infiltrating moderately differentiated adenocarcinoma of the endometrium However, it does not involve the full thickness of the Myometrium!

Gross:
Uterus weighing 105 grams, The Cervix is 20 mm long. The Endometrium has white infiltrated tumour 15mm in diameter.

Diagnosis:
Endometrial adenocarcinoma.

Am reading since 12 hours on this but cant get more Information for the Doctors Report is very limited. Can someone please try to help me and tell me if this information can tell if Mum needs Radiation for we are carefull because she is Diabetics and Kenya is very limited with Cancer Treatmend. Can she leave long only with an Hysterectomy?
I will be gratefull for your Replies.
Thank you in advance

My endometrial cancer was also diagnosed as clear cell adenocarcinoma, and invasion of the uterine wall was less than 0.5 mm. 20 lymph nodes were removed for staging. None was cancerous. There was very little data to support any of the treatment options, but I elected to have radiation (HDR)even though I was "cancer free". I dreaded any recurrence. Shortly after my radiation was completed, a study coming out of Germany in April or May indicated that with my cancer I had only a 50% chance of survival, but that with both the chemotherapy AND radiation, the chances are 90%. I am currently in chemo, and all my CA 125's have been clear. You might want to ask the doctors about this. I hope all goes well with your mother.
