Hi

My Mom had a bone marrow transplant in February of 2007.  Doing well except severe graph vs host in her mouth and bottom lip.  Some of it is in her throat as well, as she has to chew her food into very little bites before swallowing or else she can choke on it as it gets stuck.  Basically the inside of her mouth along the whole bottom and side is like an open wound, and her lip on the outside is always like it's been burnt but never healed.  VERY painful for her and very difficult to eat.  The doctors are doing the usual treatment but not helping.  Wondering if anyone else has had graph vs host in this area and besides the usual medicine did you use anything else that worked.  My family is just grateful she is alive and well and she is a very strong, determined person.  I'm just trying to find out some other options for her.  Thanks

Suzanne

My husband is going through a BMT right now - no graft/host YET - but like one of the previous responders, he had bad mouth sores during chemo - and they eventually just went away on their own.  I'm hoping your Mom has the same good fortune.
