My mother became very short of breath in April this year and gone through test after test with no diagnosis.   I finally picked her up from my sister's home and took her to a Thoratic Surgeon in the city where I live.  He immediately admitted her and advise that it appeared to be late stage cancer.  Within 3 days, we were advised that she had Squamous Cell and was at stage IV.  They are uable to operate due to spreading and the only options we have been given are ratiation and possibly Tarceva.  My mother is down to 80 pounds, has severe pain with Fentanyl and is now unable to hold down any additional pain medication by mouth.   My mother is 75 years old and has lost so much weight, coughs up blood alot and is now unable to hold down food or medication.   Help with your advise!!!
