CEA levels

Hey folks, my chemo brain is so foggy right now I cannot retain anything my doc says. I have a question that hopefully someone can answer as if I am a 5 year old....ok 4 would be better :-)

Before the colon resection my CEA was 4.7. After 3 chemo treatments the CEA was 5.1. I have had 6 chemo treatments and the last CAT scan did not find any tumors. However my CEA was 4.8. To my way of thinking if I no longer have any tumors my CEA should be in the normal range. Am I not thinking straight on this?

Thank you for taking the time to respond and hopefully explain my question.                            Patsy
