Hello,  I am so grateful to find this Message Board as it has been extremely helpful for me.

Our 13 yr old minature poodle, Brandy, has just been diagnosed with bladder cancer and our Vet told us she may only last a month.  We picked up the medication today and will give her the pills with her dinner tonight.  She will be on piroxicam 2.1mg and misoprostol 21ug (I suspect that was a typing error on the bottle) as I don't know what ug stands for.

Of course we are very upset about this.  Today we cancelled our planned flight to Disneyland with our children and grandchildren, as we could not bare to leave her with friends.

I'm wondering if I give her the pill with her dinner ..... hide the pill in some food???  Is that how it is given?  Do I give them both at the same time?

Thanks for any help you can give me.

Hi Darlene,

So sorry to hear about Brandy. We lost our 12 year old sheltie Elie to TCC in October.  Give the pills how ever she will take them... if you can hide them in her food, awesome.  Main thing is to get them in her.  As our girl lost her appetite, we had to get more creative... soft butter, banana, peanut butter, velveeta can hide the pills nicely.  Have had some luck with pill pockets made by Greenies for a boy Sheltie that hates to take pills as well.

Hope that helps a little

Hi Ray,

Thanks so much for your reply to my message.  I have ordered Graviola from the site mentioned on this Message Board, but I'm sure it is delayed with the snow and Christmas.  I hope it passes through the border ok - we live in Canada.

Thank you for the information about getting the pills into her.  So far it's been ok, but it's good to know about the raw meat and the hole!

I can't believe so many dear pets get this disease.

Thanks again,

Darlene

Hi,

Thank you so much for your reply.  I am sorry to hear about your sheltie Elie.  They are so much a part of our family and we grieve for them as family.

Thank you for the information for getting the pills into her. I wouldn't have thought of butter, banana or velveeta to hide the pills in, but I'm sure she would love it.

I hope the holidays are not too sad for you without Elie.

Thanks,

Darlene

Wow!  Thanks for your quick reply Ray!

I hope we get the graviola quickly too!  Do you know if it is safe for humans also?  .... just wondering because my sister also has cancer - lung cancer.  Anyway, as soon as it comes, I will start Brandy on it.

I wish you a Merry Christmas too Ray.

Thanks, Darlene

hi Darlene yes it work well on some cancer not to well on others Graviola is one of a number of  trees that work on the ATP of the cancer cell( it blocks the way the cancer get nutrients into it cell.) I use it for my advance prostrate cancer if my PSA gets a bit to high as I was told by my doctor not even chemo works on prostrate cancer in the past I been using a product called intense from Rain tree in new Zealand which has Graviola  and  several  other Herbs. A cause of it will put my PSA down quite a few points I think the pawpaw extract tablets work better.  but they all ways give me the runs so I cant seem stay on them to long. When you get the Graviola  I don’t know what the dose is for a such a small Dog but there are people on the CC site who would know and could help I’ve read people having good results with it . when I use to have I took  4 tablets 4 times a day but I know one lady who give he little dog a half tablet three times a day still worked out ok. take care and God bless Ray

I am sorry to tell you that our dear sweet Brandy died early in the morning on Boxing Day.  She seemed pretty good on Christmas Day, pulling her goodies out of her Christmas stocking, but collapsed on the floor on Christmas night.  We called the emergency Vet and took her right down there.  The vet said she was just dehydrated and wanted to keep her until the morning.  She gave her pain meds and put her on an intravenus.  We were to pick her up the next morning. The Vet called us early to say that she passed peacefully away at 4 a.m., before we got there.

This was so quick.  She was only diagnosed around the 18th of December.  We were not ready for it to be that quick.  I suppose for her sake, it's good she didn't linger.

She was my surprise Christmas present 13 years earlier, and to have her leave us exactly 13 years later is ironic.  She was our sweetie, our family and our best friend.  We miss her dearly.

Thank you for all your help. (I posted a message regarding her death a few days ago but I think I must have posted it in the wrong place -sorry.)

Good Luck to all your sweet doggies.

Darlene
