My Mom, My best Friend lost her battle yesterday

Hi All, My Mom has lost her battle yesterday. As I have written before , she was accidentally found to have early gastric cancer of her distal stomach, had the partial gastrectomy. Was found to have signet cell adenocarcinoma in the superficial layer of her stomach but even though it was found so early it was so agressive that it had gotten to 2 of 15 lymph nodes. After doing well after surgery she developed sepsis from an abcess at the surgical site , recovered from that and then began her chemo, She was staged at a 1b but because of the agressive nature they were treating it as a 3 and even though my Mom was 82 she was very healthy and strong and the Dr. aged her at about 60. (which, by the way, she loved!). She had 5 days of chemo and on the 5th night developed very painful sores in her throat and mouth and was unable to eat or drink. After supplementing her with IV during the week on the next Fri her white count went to zero and she became septic again. She just could not recover from this. I just  wanted to thank all of you who have so generously taken the time to give me information and advice and just to share words and blessing together as we share this awful disease! I wish all of you pain free days and only good news and from the bottom of my heart I say THANK YOU! Ellen

I am so sorry to hear the loss of your mom around this time.  I'm sure she's greatly needed up there.

I am so very sorry over the loss of your mother.  I lost my mother 28 years ago to uterine cancer and there is not a day that goes by that I don't miss and think of her.  I also lost my dear husband to stomach cancer February 22, 2008 after a valiant 3 year battle at stage IV.  Keep fond memories in your heart.  You will be reunited eternally.

I am very sorry to hear about your loss. You mom is pain free now. Please keep strong.

I am carring for my mom in the hospita now. She is with the same type of cancer. She had total stomach resection last year in November & help so well. Many people tell me the he deserves to have a monument made after her. However this awefull desease is taking over. She was not able to eat within the last 3 months. She just had her 2nd surgery done on 12/19/08 & doctors made special "pass" for the food to go through, however it looks like they were no very sucessful. She is having trouble eating and drinking again. She lives in Russia & I live is US, so I am visiting now. I am the only child & must be with my parents during this horrible time, however my husband just had the most dangerous & complicated surgery on 11/14 for suspicios of pancreatic cancer. I am barely holding. But I must...

I totally undertand your pain. It it very horrible to loose a mother. I am not ready for it, but this desease is taing over. I am very very scared....

Please take car of yourself

Ellen,

I am truly sorry to hear about the loss of your mother.  It is so difficult to lose anyone to this terrible disease, let alone your mom.  My dad is fighting this aweful disease and is currently very sick in the hospital fighting with his last ounce of strength for his life as I write this to you.  I understand all too well what a battle this cancer is and can only pray that he does not suffer more than he has already, and I wish for you some ability to move on with knowing that your mom is at peace and in a better place now. God bless you.

Lila.
