From Anna,

Hi all, Found out on another site that Brazil Nuts are good for you when you have a low white count. I looked into it and here's a link I found.

I've read that some advocates of natural therapy caution against eating Brazil nuts because a) many commercial Brazil nut crops are heavily sprayed with pesticides, b) Brazil nuts (and peanuts) seem to be particularly susceptible to fungi, and it's not always evident from the shell or the nut if they have been contaminated. A shame, because otherwise they are a nutritious powerhouse.

The only place I've  ever found organically grown Brazil nuts was in a health food store. For those who can  find organically grown, that certainly might reduce half the risk.

Sincerely, Tre

Hi there

You have frightened the life out of me regarding pesticide use on collection of Brazil nuts, had thought about eating then straight from the package until I read your message, having read about the collection and storage of the nuts in the Rain Forest, and the personel hygiene of the collectors and how the nuts have to be protected from insects and birds, I'm having second thoughts about eating raw, or am I being over cautious.

Regards
