RE: Rising CEA

Tricia47,I understand your concern. You are doing the right thing by following up with your doctor and finding out what is going on. Try to concerntrate on the positives you mentioned, as there are many. As it has been explained to me, the cea is just one piece of the puzzle. Depending on the patient the cea level can be an accurate or inaccurate indicator. Looking at the whole picture, you seem to have more good things going on so focus on those until you get all the test results. Good luck.Lynn

Rising CEA

Well here I am 2 years after having my bowel explode, 6 months of horrific chemo, ileostomy for 1year and 2 months reversed for 1 yr now doing very well with the exception of my legs, feet and hands which i am now just starting to get some feeling back in them, just begining to achieve some confidence in my health when bang my CEA is begining to rise last result was 6. My CT scan is negative, i am not losing weight (gaining yuk) CBC is good, iron stores not good generally feeling well but, and this is a large but why is my CEA rising? So here i go in 2009 with more tests to determine what is going on. My Doc is scheduling me for a PET scan, I should say that there has never been any signs of the cancer having spread.
