Is Hysterectomy My Only Choice?

I am 26 years old and recently had a colopscopy and LEEP procedure done. The results came back as Severe Dysplasia and some sort of cancer in situ? While talking to my ob/gyn my choices were to try the LEEP or a cone biospy again or hysterectomy. I have one daughter and my husband and I were looking forward to trying for another very soon. This seems to have ruined everything we were looking forward to!! I feel like if I don't have the hysterectomy I am giving myself a death sentence. If anyone has anyone advice....please,please,please help me out!!

I'm sorry your doctor has presented those choices to you. I will give you a link to another alternative, but first, did you look at the lab report? Something I'm not clear on is if the margins were clear or if there was CIS in the margins. That could help you with your choices, right there. But please insist on seeing the lab report and getting a full explanation.

In the meantime, the other alternative between cone biopsy and hysterectomy is the trachelectomy. The entire cervix is removed and the uterus is left for fertility. I'll give you a couple of links.

If you want the Wikepedia definition, here it is. I tend to prefer to read actual studies, but this also gives an overview, and it does have more links at the bottom.
