My dad has been on Nexavar for mets since 09/2007. He has been battleing kidney cancer since 2004. Some side effets: Burning sensation to hands and feet but very tolerable  His last CT report used the word necrosis to describe tumors. He just turned 72 years old. I am thankful for this drug.

Hi I am on sutent, I have been battling cancer since 2004 too. I have been battling the spread since Feb 2007. Some of my nodes have necrosis (dead tissue too) some are systic (full of fluid) both of these outcomes are good. Yours dads results seem promising. Was he told that if necrosis is present the tumour will die or not?

Hi

My Dad is starting Nexavar tomorrow (hopefully). He seems to have had issues getting it cleared with the medical aid and it has become a little frustrating. It appears people don't seem to understand the sense of urgency one feels when your hope for survival is pegged so solidly on a drug. He is in good health and one would never guess he is so ill! He has a very positive outlook, has a fantastic caregiver (my mum) and I really feel that although RCC prognosis is bad there are stories of people overcoming the condition. I would really like to hear from these people. I was really chuffed to hear you had a positive spin.

All the very best.
