Alternative Treatment Choices

Hello, over the summer, my mom was diagnosed with colon cancer that spread to her liver.  Until very recently, I had no idea there were alternative treatments available.  I thought chemo was the only thing available for treating cancer.  When I started researching alternative treatments, I found a ton of information, but not all of the information aligns.  So I'm just looking for some answers.

So my dad recently told me to look into the Budwig Diet.  I found out how to make the basic recipe of the diet, and when I tried it, I found that it doesn't taste good.  My mom is a very picky eater, and I don't think she would even try it.  My question is, is it okay to eat the flax oil/cottage cheese mixture with something like normal flavored yogurt?  Because I know sugar is prohibited from the diet, so I wasn't sure.  Also, is it bad to just eat this recipe every once in a while?  I read somewhere that if you break the diet even once, the disease will come back worse than ever.  And one more question, is it okay for someone who doesn't have any disease to eat this recipe every once in a while?

Also, I came across this website http://www.cancerfightingstrategies.com/zeolite.html.  I was wondering if any of you knew more about these strategies and which ones work or not.  Some of them seem kind of odd to me, but some of them make sense to me.  So I really don't know what to believe.  And I've looked into a few of these individually, and am reading mixed reviews.  Some people say its phony.  Some people say it works.  Any help at all is appreciated.  Thanks

Hi 13eepee sorry about your mom. Diagnosed with colon cancer bad enough then it spread to her liver. I to have cancer advance prostrate cancer and I use alternative means to fight it.I read about the budwig diet and  Among other things. Twice a day I have flack seed oil and cottage cheese on two peaces of toast. I spread a dessert spoon of flack seed oil over the toast than spread a dessert spoon of cottage cheese over it. I have this twice a day. Early in the morning and late at night  I once read a book by Dr Ross Walker called the cell factor he talks  about how commercially processed fats and oils can replace normal cells in the cell membranes these commercially processed fats and oils are a smaller molecule so nutrients have a hard time pass in through them so the cell starves one way the cell can stop this is to become a cancer cell that way  the cancer cell can get bigger then the normal cell so it has more surface area Dr Budwig went a  bit feather  Her research has shown the tremendous effects that commercially processed fats and oils have in destroying cell membranes and lowering the voltage in the cells of our bodies, which then result in chronic and terminal disease. The trick is by using the budwig I can replace the fats these commercially processed fats and oils in my cell membranes http://www.cancertutor.com/Cancer/Budwig.html

What I’ve read is it not one part of our body that sick but the whole body that’s sick and the best   cancer fighter is our own immune system boost that up and we cant lose zeolite works Ive use it a while a go doctors did a test on foods that would stop medulloblastoma (brain cancer cells) from mets below 10%  the best cancer fighters were from the top Garlic, Beet, Kale, red cabbage, and onion, these foods all work on brain cancer and the best one Garlic doctors found if some one had a garlic at lunch and a EEG was done son after  it would read they were brain dead. Garlic is one just one of the rear foods that can get past the brain barrier. And get into cancer but  for me it the humble  Cabbage The family a tumor’s sworn enemy but just eating Garlic and onions in the food we eat can keep cancer a way I cook with cabbage and I also put it in a blender and drink it hope this helps Ray

How wonderful that your father has the good sense to realize that there are
answers outside conventional medical treatments!  Few people comprehend that a
doctor cannot offer a patient anything more than what he or she learned in
medical school and continuing education seminars.  Sadly, even fewer realize
that doctors, MUST offer the conventionally accepted "standard of care" for a
condition or dis-ease, or risk their affiliation with the AMA.  That is why
"slash, poison, and burn" continues to dominate cancer treatments.
Chemotherapies, ineffective for most cancers, indiscriminately kill healthy
cells and cancer cells, damaging the immune system.  Patients become afflicted
with the side effect of nausea and lose interest in eating; lack of proper
nutrition worsens an already deficient immune system.

I am a 10 year survivor of an aggressive breast cancer.  I tried various
alternative treatments, and I looked into the Budwig diet.  Although I didn't
follow the Budwig protocol myself, I have heard nothing but good things about
it.  The alternative "medicine" I found most valuable was the German New
Medicine---it's #11 in the list of cancer fighting strategies at the website URL
you provided, listed under the "Psychological" strategies. Please look into it.
I firmly believe that all dis-ease is rooted in emotional trauma, and that cure
is impossible until the traumatic issue is resolved.  I credit its application
to my situation as the reason for my complete and total cure.

Best wishes to your mother for a speedy recovery!

Thanks for your responses.  Ray, when you eat toast with the flax oil/cottage cheese twice a day, is that all you eat during the day?  The difficult thing is, my mom is a very picky eater.  She is currently on chemo and gets really nauseated.  So I doubt she will be able to stick to the Budwig diet exclusively.  She is probably going to have days when she wants to eat something else.  Will this make the cancer come back worse than ever?  Also, I know she likes to drink grape juice and noticed it has some sugar in it.  Will this work against the diet, since no sugar is allowed?

Hi 13eepee...  So sorry about your mom and good for you for checking into alternatives.  I was diagnosed with breast cancer 12/05, had surgery (long story..lol) and was sick as a dog, night sweats, circles under my eyes, lost  20 #'s in 2 - 3 wks, swollen lymph nodes under my arms, etc.  also looked in to alternatives b4 I saw the surgeon and let me tell ya... its a jungle out there on the internet.  Lots of info.. lots of 'snake oil'.  I could have spent tons of money and tried it all.  Had to talk to myself & narrow my focus.  Nitty-gritty is this.  Cancer is a failure of the immune system so figured I would focus on my immune system.  Found a product called Ave... wheat germ extract with clinical trials that fights cancer,  found AHCC .. mushroom product used especially in Japan as a cancer fighter... also eat the cottage cheese with flax (I add 1/2 cp fresh fruit like pineapple or grapes with it to make it palatable).  The flax is excellent even if you arent doing the cancer diet. I also take 1-2 ozs noni juice.. wish I could afford pure pomegranate juice.. that looks like a winner.  By the time I had my surgery in middle of March, they checked the nodes and no sign of cancer.  I started the Ave, AHCC & noni 1/5/06...  kept a diary.. things started turning around the end of Feb.  Stopped the weight loss, the night sweats and the nodes weren't swollen anymore.  I did not say a word to the dr about what I was doing.  Started feeling human again in April/May.  I am 3 yrs out now and doing well. I go to the oncologist (didnt see one til almost 1 - 1/2 yr later after surgeries) every 6 mos and I don't take the rx's she has suggested.  I feel I am doing fine.  But that is my choice... I wouldn't make that choice for someone else.  But do look into the Ave and the AHCC.  Ave fights cancer 3 ways.. 1)  it interfers with the cancer cells uptake of glucose.. 2) it slowly dissolves the coating that cancer cells use to 'hide' from your immune system (the killer t cells) and 3) it boosts the immune system tremendously. With you mom's chemo, they are destroying her immune system..comes with the territory.  The clinical trials done with Ave were used with conventional cancer therapies.. chemo & radiation.  Ave was a star !!! helped with the side effects of chemo & radiation.  Do look it up on the internet and read about the clinical trials.  It doesn't taste very good & I had to start off with just a tablespoon AM & PM because it upset my tummy a little (that only lasted a wk or so) but now take a full dose each pm before bed.  Don't take vit c within 4 hrs.   I take my vits am & about 5 - 6 pm at nite.. then the Ave about 10 - 11 pm. Now the only problem with Ave is .. it is expensive (about 140.00 x month) and it has to be kept cool. Stored cool, shipped cool..etc. The only company I have found that I trust to handle ave properly is betterhealthinternational.com.  They ship it 2 days ups (I pay extra for overnite & get 3 mos worth at a time so I know it is fresh). & I keep it in the fridge after I get it.  This same company sells the AHCC & their price is about the best there is.  I have no connection with the company.. I am in Va.. they are in Florida (I like that they are 'close' by for shipping purposes).  Be careful out there in cancer internet land.  There are a lot of choices.  Try to find things that have had clinical trials in other countries.  Educate yourself & do encourage your mother to take care of herself.  I think the Ave & AHCC would be a great adjunct to her cancer treatment.  Try to avoid white anything.. white sugar, white bread, ice cream, etc. and eat as much natural products as she can.  Try natural toothpastes, shampoos, conditioners, etc.  One wonderful fat out there is pure coconut oil.  Great stuff !!  You can eat it, fry with it & use it as a moituriser on your skin..lol.  Bless you, child, praying for you & your mom.  Email me if you need any more info..   xoxo.. Lola

I was dx in August with a brain tumor. I started taking the cottage cheese and flax seed oil and hated the smell and the taste. My kids told me to plug my nose and it worked! I couldn't smell or taste it while plugging my nose. Then I had to eat something afterward to get the taste out of my mouth. You do have to mix it until you don't see any oil. I would not put yogurt in it because of the sugar. You can add fruit to try to hide the taste of it. Yes, it is ok for a healthy person to eat it. How much you eat depends on how bad the cancer is and what stage you are in. I think I was eating 2 tablespoons of flaxseed oil per day, but I probably should have eaten more.

I did this for about 3 months and then I started taking essential oils from YES that my husband has been taking for years. Here is a link that you can check out:

http://www.brianpeskin.com/NEXUS%20Hidden%20Story%20Article.

The essential oils are more expensive than the flaxseed/cottage cheese, but worth it to me because they are pills and I don't have to eat that nasty stuff anymore. I talked to a naturopath in CA and he said the Budwig Diet is good, but so are the YES essential oils. Do not take the oils and the flaxseed oil/cottage cheese. Do one or the other. The YES oils have omega 3 and 6 in them. Check the website above for more info. It is interesting.

The naturopath also recommended AHCC which I was already taking. The key is to boost the immune system so it can fight the cancer. I have also heard (naturopath said so too) that boosting the ph level so it is more alkaline will kill off the cancer. I'm trying to do that now, but having a hard time getting it high enough. I am trying to eat only alkaline foods and taking a natural supplement to boost my ph. But I just started the supplement 2 weeks ago.

I have been researching alternative meds online since I was diagnosed. It is so overwhelming!! You just don't know what works and what doesn't. I try to find people who have used it and it has worked. I go on these cancer message boards to find people, then email them and ask questions. Sorry, I did not click on your link, but saw zeolite on it. The naturopath in CA recommended zeolite for a little girl with a brain tumor, but he didn't recommend I take it? Not sure if it works. I haven't tried it.

Good luck!!

Hi,  I put the flax seed oil in the blender with the cottage cheese  and blend it till it is like soft cream cheese.  It tastes lilke very good cream cheese to me.   Can be used in sandwiches, I also put ranch dip dressing seasonings in it and use with veggies for a dip.  Also, eat it with yoghurt and fruit.   The book I read said that is all right.   It's the combination of the blend of oil and cottage cheese or yoghurt that works on the cancer cell.  It's the Omega 3's, 6's and 9's that do the work.     Some purists don't want any even natural sugars from fruit in their diets.  I don't follow that.   Try mom with a whole wheat bagle and "cream cheese."   Good luck.

Hi - Yes there is a lot of conflicting and mis-information out there regarding alternative or all natural cancer treatments.

Address your questions about the Budwig diet. Consistency is the key to any diet or protocol that you decide to follow regarding any disease or condition. If you only follow part of the diet, in the case of the Budwig system, then if the results is poor, then you know the reason.

You need to find a treatment that the person will accept and follow to the letter. You mentioned no sugar. Correct absolutely no refined sugar, but in addition to that, regardless of whatever you decide to do, no bread except Ezekiel 4:9 whole grain bread, no caffiene, red meat once a month max or even better no red mean at all.

Additionally freash organic vegetables very lightly steamed, almost raw. Wash them well in a mixture of baking soda and water. Wash fruits the same way.

The immune system needs a boost or to be enhanced. TOA-free cat's claw is an excellent choice. A blend of organic mushrooms will also make the immune sysem strong.

Diet is key, but diet alone may not bring some back to situation where the cancer is fully controlled and is in remision. Apricot seeds and/or vitamin B17 will increase the volume of Natural Killer (NK) cells that will attack any cancer that may be present.

You probably already know, but I will just mention it for anyone else that reads this post. Every human on the planet has cancer cells in their body. Normally our the immune system of the human body is strong enough to keep the cancer under control. When the immune is weakened because of stress, diet or a arrany of many other reasons, the cancer starts to infect the body.

Chemo kills all the cancer cells but it kills all the healthy cells as well to a point that the immune system cannot keep the body healthy and free of disease. So after chemo the body is very susceptible to a variety of diseases including pneumonia and other infections.

Zeolite is a compound that will detox the body and raises the alkaline pH of the body. Cancer cannot survive in a human body that has a pH of 7.2 to 7.8. You can go to your local vitamin store and ask for litmus paper to test alkalinity. It is a small strip of specially treated paper that when touched to the tongue it will chance to a shade of color. Matching the color to a scale provided will indicate the pH of the body.

Beside Zeolite, another way to raise alkalinity is to add several dropy of "liquid stabalized oxygen" to pure (not tap water) water.
