MON IN RELAPSE AFTER 2 MONTHS

My mom was first diagnosed with AML in April 2008, she is 74yrs old this year. She undergone induction chemo and 3 sets of consolidation chemo and was finished by October of 2008. Everything looks fine and the doctor even mentioned that she is in remission. This month, January of 2009, the doctor found some cancer cells on her blood exam...a possible relapse. Why so fast? The doctor said chemo might not be an option anymore because of her age and even a BMT...a supportive care or clinical trials is now an option. Please share your experiences or people you know with this similay situation...plssssss...
