gemzar or radiation

My oncologist is recommending gemzar (three weeks on, one week off)  after the Doxil I had been getting stopped working.  This seems like a lot of chemo in a short time.  My surgeon is recommending radiation.  I'm really unsure about what to do and will welcome any imput from patients who have been treated with either.  Will I be burning my bridges to choose radiation and not be able to get chemo again?

I
was on Doxil but after developing major mouth sores, and an excelerated
tumor marker count, I was taken off of it.  I was also told at the
time that my cancer was incurable but treatable and I am now on Gemzar,
three weeks on one week off.  My tumor markers went from 1034 to
390 after the first round but are back up to 578.  I also
developed swelling and a rash on my legs.  I am going to stick
with it as long as my doctor says.  I have not had radiation so I
can't compare.  Good luck with your decision.

I'm surprised to hear your doctor is recommending radiation.  Have they discovered a large mass to radiate?  My understanding after my surgery was that the cancer cells were so spread out there really was nothing to radiate.  I haven't had Doxil, but I am on Gemzar/carboplatin every 2 weeks and it is keeping my CA125 below 10.  Whatever works!  I'd be interested in hearing how you come out on this decision.  Good luck.
