Most chemo/cancer patients are sensative to sugar.  Cut it out.  Try dark chocolate.  If all else fails ask you phamacist to order Carnation Instant Breakfast HVC.  Unlike the products you will find at the grocery store a single can as 560 calories.  It costs about 25.00/case.   I add a couple scoops of hersey's chocolate powder and ice.   On the days post chemo this is about the only thing my husband can get down.   He has been on pallative chemo for over a year and has maintained his weight.  Good luck to you with your dad.

Megastrol really helps my dad with his appetite....without it I don't think he would eat at all.  Also, he always takes compazine and zofran to prevent nausea.....hope this helps.

My mother is going through the same thing she is extremely picky and does not eat. -what she does eat is warm oatmeal with milk -she also likes to drink incaparina wich is a drink she would only eat and drink that while on chemo after a few days without chemo she eats a little more of other things but not as much. Hope it helps! Best wishes & stay strong!
