Subject: Stomach Pain That Feels Like Contractions
Date: 01/28/2006
I to have pain in the stomach that feels like contractions. The pain was so bad last night, I thought about asking my spouse to take me to the hospital and then thought about the $500.00 it would cost to go to the emergency room, which was $500.00 that I did not have.

I have been experiencing these kinds of contractions for sometime now and no doctor can tell me what the problem is. I have taken test after test. Maybe I am being referred for wrong kinds of test.

Please tell me what kinds of test was performed on you spouse in order for the doctor to determine what his problem was. I would like to ask my doctor to refer me for the same test that was given to you spouse. I know that something is wrong because I know my body.

Matthew2, I to was having these kinds of pains along with sweats, chest pains and flushing spells. My doctors were never able to figure out what was wrong and would pass it off as a stomach virus. Then one day they discovered my iron was low and I was anemic, that's when they decided to do an upper endiscope on me and found out the I have a 3cm Carcinoid Tumor in my stomach that has metastatic to my liver. This maybe something you might want to check out.

Hi Judi, I just read your post about your husband having stage 4 linitis plastica. Hope he is doing well! I too have linitis plastica, stage 3a, was diagnosed May '05. Completed six months of chemo, last PET/CT scans show no cancer, praise the Lord! Have been off chemo almost 3 months, eating whatever I want. The chemo shrank my tumor at bottom of esophagus right away so I could swallow easily soon. Will probably go back on chemo soon just to make sure we kill any possible cells floating around. There is a wonderful organization devoted to helping folks with cancer, www.blochcancer.org or can call at 1-800-433-0464, they don't want our money, they just want to help. I highly reccomend it!
Best wishs, good luck to you, Les

Hi Les:

I finally saw your information about the Blochcancer.org. I will look this up and thank you for responding. My husband is ready for his 3rd CT scan.in a few weeks. I am hopeful, but I think we need this information you gave us to help with support. He gets depressed sometimes and he gets weak with diarrhea. This is his off week from chemo so he is feeling great. Good luck to you also.

Thank you again.

Hi Arard, sorry to hear your news. I did the J feeding tube, had no problem, it saved my life in fact. Some folks do have problem but I did not, pumped Ensure into it and got along just fine. However, I am 61, 20 years younger than your husband. It's been 9 months since I had my tube removed, and have been thru quite a bid of other issues as well. One can never say for sure till it gets right down to it, but there does come a time when enough is enough. I have not quite reached that point yet, but I can now understand when people don't want any more "stuff". Emend helped with my nausea if you have not already tried it. God bless you both, Les

Dear Lee
thank you for your kind message. My husband, because of his age(81) decided not to take any treatments and we had about 3 1/2-4 mos. together before he got really sick. Hospice came in and God bless them, they were wonderful. Thankfully, they kept him pain free, but the nausea and inability to eat were devastating. He lost a tremendous amount of weight, but until the end he was lucid, maintained his sense of humor and it was a joy to care for him. We had 6l years together and I thank God for that. The last week of January 2006, we all prayed for him to go. He passed away on Jan 29. We miss him terribly-but there's no more suffering and he is in a Better Place. God Bless You, Anna

Dear Sandy/Ml
Sorry I never replied to your lovely message.
I just havent been to the computer in a very long time. We tried everything with my husband-Hospice did its best to keep him comfortable, which they did to a degree. The bad taste never went away and the last three weeks or so-he just vomited black vile stuff almost every day, although he didnt eat anything. Did drink some Resource(a fruit tasting vitamin drink) and some Boost and occasionally tea. The last 3 weeks of January he had no solid food at all. It's amazing how a strong, healthy, never sick man could just get so very sick all of a sudden (May 2005 and die in 8 months (Jan 29). He didnt become bedridden until the middle of December sometime--he had lost so much weight from not eating that he just couldnt stand up anymore--from 184 to about 115 when he died. It was unbelievable. He was lucid until the day before he died and we talked for about 2 hrs together on Sat Jan 28. Then he was put on very heavy morphine sedation and peacefully went to sleep on Sun.Jan 29 at 7:35 pm. He accepted his death peacefully and that helped me a great deal. We had a wonderful marriage of 61 years and for that I am so very greateful--it helps take the edge off my loneliness. God be with you
