Small Cell Cancer of the Cervix--just diagnosed

My sister in law, 43, was just diagnosed this week with SCCC, after a month of gastrointestinal distress. She was found to have tumor masses in her ovaries, vagina, her uterus was enlarged and "rock-hard", and she has 7 tumors in her liver, which was the source of her GI distress. She is currently undergoing MRIs and bone scans to see if the cancer is in her brain or bones. She will be undergoing chemo (cisplatin and VP-16) and Radiation therapy. We are all in shock, and wanted to inquire if there was anyone out there who has been treated for Stage 4 SCCC, and how you have done so far. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Hello!

You have come to a very good place. Look under gynecological cancer under the message boards on page 3, there is a small cell with TONS of postings.

I believe that I have only seen stage 3 here with SCCC. Her name was Meredith and she put up quite a fight. My son's mother was diagnosed with SCCC in June of 07 and is fighting still. I believe she was stage 2 at time of diagnosis.

There is lots of great information and support here. Take care and God bless you.

Thank you so much for your response to my inquiry! I did find the SCCC thread under gynecological cancers. My SIL, Beth, just found out on 1/31/09 that the cancer has also spread to her shoulder and right hip, so she is upset, but she is also a fighter. She has a care page on the hospital site so that she can leave updates and people can post messages to her, and her screen name is "Scrappy65"! Says it all. God Bless you.

Karen
