I am so afraid my brother may have stomach cancer. Please help me,

with symptoms you may have had.  My brother has been having issues for bout 6 months. He felt like it was some type of reflux. Every time he eats

he is vomiting, and cant keep it down. Sometimes is bloated after he eats.

He HAD to quit smoking because he said it felt like the smoke was in his stomach, and irritated it even more. The other day at work, his heart rate was up, and blood pressure down, the had to put him on a hospital bed, and give him iv fluids because he was dehydrated. (he works in the er) NOw he has a

Dr appointment it 4 days, and I am so afraid it is stomach cancer. Do the symptoms I am describing sound like stomach cancer?  I appreciate any information you may be able to give me. I am just worried sick.

Easy there, don't jump off the bridge. Let him get an endoscopy first to get any results. I know it is so hard to wait, but please, this just gets you worked up. Hang in there, and let us know the results.

If the endoscopy doesn't show anything but he still feels the same symptoms he should demand a CT scan.  My mom had an endoscopy done every 6 months because she's always suffered of gastritis, and on his last one they found that his stomach looked like a brain (sort off) - it was the tumor on her stomach.

I thought maybe her cancer was in the initial stage because 6 months prior it was clear, but that was not the case, she is a stage 4.  The cancer had penetrated all layers.  I asked the oncologist about this and he mentioned that the endoscopy will only see it once it's gotten to the inner most layer.  Just to be safe ask for a CT/PET scan.

God bless and I pray that everything is well with your brother.

My wife (diagnosed with Stage IV stomach cancer in March 07) had intense pain right at the GI junction (just below her ribs).  This occurred after three spicy meals in a row and was uncommon for her.  Originally diagnosed a reflux she cut out coffee, spicy food, tomato sauce, etc. and the symptoms went away.  We however did not stop there but demanded an endoscopy which identified the stomach tumor and later a CT Scan which identified the spread to her liver.

She has been on chemo every since and is currently in remission.

Hope it is not stomach cancer but do all the testing until they FIND what it is.  Recent advice is to keep asking what else could it be IF the primary diagnosis is not correct; what else could it be and how can we rule it out OR identify exactly what is wrong.  Pain, vomitting, symptoms are not normal and mean something is wrong - keep pushing until he finds out why.

Good luck!
