Hi I have been on Tamoxafen for 3yrs and 7 months now for breast cancer.  I went to see my oncologist yesterday and told him I got my period for one day 9 days ago. He told me to stop taking the tamoxefin, and ordered an ultrasound of the pelvic and a transvaginal utrasound also. He's chequing for uterine  or vaginal cancer that apparently is one of the side affect when taking tamoxafen. Has anybody had to go through this out there, and what was your prognosis. By the way in I'm 58 years old so I should'nt be having my period. Any feedback good or bad would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

I'm glad your doctor is ordering tests quickly and seeing what is going on. I despise cancer with a passion and it sounds like you've been through a lot and it's just one more twist in your roller coaster ride. Good news is that Uterine cancer is the best kind of cancer you can get and the cure for it is a hysterectomy.

I haven't had to deal with all that you have, but I was diagnosed with Uterine Cancer 3 years ago and had to have a complete hysterectomy. I haven't had any problems due to it.

Tamoxafen has been linked to a rare form of uterine cancer (mmmt). Your doctor is smart in having you stop taking tamoxafen and to order a transvaginal.

I hope all your tests turn out good.
