Subject: What Should i Think Now?
Date: 10/30/2005
I recently posted a message about my sister have a rare cancer called URACHAL.... a rare form of bladder cancer. she was sent home mid Oct. by doctors who said there is nothing more they can do for her, but keep her comfortable. Well Cancer Treatment Centers of America seems to disagree, however they feel that 40% of patients that are on HOSPICE don't belong on it. After submitting my sisters insurance to see if she can come into CTCA for consultation, it turns out that her insurance is not accepted at their facility. After extensive conversations with oncologist specialists at CTCA, I have to hear that they can't see my sister unless I have $25,000 off the bat. HA, go figure..
Now her doctor tells us that jaundice is setting in.. Is this the next stage to where it is spreading into the liver? Someone clue me in?
I thought that doctors took an Oath to treat patients "DO KNOW HARM", and when you hear something so bizarre as we need Cash up front, where is "we want to make a difference in someones life" fit in here?
Some of you might think I sound a little bitter, by all means I am not, its just that I know that there are doctors out there with the knowledge its just that we don't know where you are and when we find you its too late or when we here of a survival story of someone in the same situation we often wonder why not us....
Someone please give me some feedback on this..

since I posted this message this afternoon, My sister has passed on. She did go peacefully thank GOD. I made a promise to her that I would continue to make a difference in the life of people who have this disease or those who are afflicated somehow by someone with this illness. Staci was 43yrs. old and to see such a young life be taken away is extremely painful and yet we question God why? I come to find out that she wants her remains to be donated strictly for research for the sole purpose of the rare form of cancer that she was diagnosed with earlier in Jan. 05'. URACHAL CANCER
REGARDS,
Andrea

I was saddened to read your message about your sister. She was so young and must have been a remarkable person to want so badly to help others. She and your family will be in prayers tonight. There are many people out there struggling with this terrible disease and you would hope that some day soon we will have a cure. With sympathy. Miatri
