I'm sorry this is so long but I'm new to all this.  : )

I'm hoping someone can help me.  My father (67) was diagnosed with stomach cancer (lymphoma), ulcers, and h pylori at Christmas.  His oncologist started him on an antibiotic treatment for several weeks.  Last week, my father's endoscopy showed the h pylori infection was gone but everything else was the same.  He goes to the oncologist tomorrow to discuss the next treatment.  During this time, the doctor hasn't offered any type of information regarding diet, recipes to try, supplements, etc.  My father is now at the point that anything he eats makes his stomach hurt and bloated.  A few weeks ago he was at least able to eat soup, mashed potatoes, etc., without pain but now anything bothers him.  HE IS SO HUNGRY.   I can hardly bring myself to eat when I am around because I don't want to tempt him.  He is losing weight and I'm sure he is not getting the proper vitamins.  Can anyone offer any suggestions so I can help him?  Also, his oncologist mentioned doing another round of antibiotic treatment.  I do not understand why you would take that route if the infection is gone.  Wouldn't it be better to start chemo or some other treatment to take care of the lymphoma that is already there?  I'm concerned that it will spread if it isn't addressed soon.  Thank you for any help and diet info you have to share!

Hi

Sorry to hear about your Dad. My husband was just diagnosed with stage 4 stomach cancer so I'm new at this but did they say what stage your Dad is?

My husband was started on chemo right away so I would definitely find out what stage he is . I did read it's very hard to diagnose early stomach cancer.

I feel if doctors did testing for cancer when people complain that it hurts to eat and losing weight maybe we can find stomach cancer early. That's all the symptoms my husband had and had many tests and told it was gastritis and take these pills and come back in 3 mths.  meanwhile the cancer is growing & growing and reaches stage 4, I feel this could have been found alot earlier.

so definitely find out what stage if early demand chemo before it gets to stage 4.

Your Dad is in my prayers.

Diane

My husband was at the same place when his symptoms started....it hurt him to eat.   I made smoothies with mango, banana, yogurt, ensure, protein powder, cruched ice....or whatever nutrients I could get in them.  I soaked unsalted almonds overnight to soften and put a few in  also.  The shakes were about all he could tolerate and he slowly sipped on them.

I found that he got sick of the Ensure and found Benecalorie on the Internet....it is made by Nestle and packs 330 calories in 1 1/2 oz., which is easier to tolerate than a large volume, especially after gastrectomy

There are different kinds of meds for Nausea that don't make you sleepy.  My husband did not start any until chemo.

Everyone needs an advocate.....stay on the Dr. to address the cancer treatment....the faster they know what stage or involvement of it the quicker a tratment plan can be started.

Private message me if you have anything that I might can help you with.   I just have our experience to share with you.

God bless You!

Sandy

Hello DaughterGS I have had great success using alternative protocols for my lymphoma, although mine was not located in the stomach. I am attaching a link here for you to research which is a highly regarded reputable site offering information about successful alternative protocols. Cancers of the digestive system are more easily treated since the solutions suggested come into contact with the actual cancer. http://www.cancertutor.com/Cancer02/VitC_BSoda.html ......... I hope you will follow the links to Dr. Simoncini who is an Italian oncologist who has had great success treating cancer patients with this protocol. Best of luck to all......Sheila ______________________________________________________________
