help

I was diagnosed with ovarian cancer 3.5 years ago.  Stage 3.  I guess remission is what i am in, i've never really asked and have never talked to anyone who has or is going through the same thing.  My ca125 is taken every 3mos, for at least 10 years.  I feel alone, worried that it is back all the time.  I don't know the symptoms for reoccurence.  I have the usual test.  It feels like a waiting game.  Can anyone talk with me and help me to understand.  I need to talk to someone that is going through what i am.  God bless my husband, he tries, but it isn't working.

Help me if you can, I am losing my mind.

Thank you,

Renee

Hi Renee,

You're not alone.  I am looking forward to my next labwork and CT scan with trepidation.  I've had two recurrences of endometrial cancer.  The first was within six months of my diagnoses and the second within six months of the end of chemo.  It's been six months since the end of my second course of chemo, so the timing of my next labwork and CT scan fit the "bad new" metric.  But I'm very hopeful the news will be good.

I'm taking Arimidex because my cancer is positive for estrogen receptors, and I'm hoping that it is doing its job.

It sounds like you're doing well to have made it 3.5 years from diagnosis.

In both endometrial and ovarian cancer, the accumulation of fluid in the abdomen is a symptom of recurrence.  And there are a lot of ladies on this message board who will respond to your message with info about ovarian cancer.

Also, you should contact your oncologist with your questions.  Mine has always been very responsive when I've had questions.

I hope all goes well for you.

Hi Renee, the building up of fluid in your abdomen, a rise in your CA-125, feeling of fullness , and constipation. These are all things that can inicate that this horrible disease is back.I would not worry if your Ct-scan and C125 tumor marker is below 35.

Hugs and Prayers, Terry

Don't rely on the CA125.  I had a reoccurrance and it was only 19.  MAKE SURE YOU GET YOUR CAT scans every 3-6 months, and if your insurance will pay for it, get a PET scan,
