if the tumour has not spread outside the kidney?that's localised? so no spreading to other parts of the body? pathologists report said the tumour did not invade the renal capsule and no involvement of renal sinus fat, renal vein,<adrenal or pelvis. the non neoplastic renal tissue appears unremarkable. he also staged it at stage 2 is this accurate? even thoughi had no chest or bone scans? they say pathologists reports are pretty accurate. should i then assume that the cancer had not spread? please help!

That is good the tumor has not spread outside the kidney. They told my husband the same thing. But 1 year later a spot showed up on his lung. So we had that removed and now he has 6 more small tumors in the same lung. It could be a good report  and I no means am trying to worry you. But with cancer they cannot see it with cat-scan or pet scan intill  it starts to grow.  I wish you the best and there was one report on here that a lady had the same thing and was cancer free for 11 years.

Hi,

I was dragging my left leg, it was heavy from a blood clot. I was diagnosed with renal cell carcinoma. I was blessed. It was all contained. They took my right kidney and I am out of remission as of 2007. I had no radiation treatments, just shots in my tummy every 12 hrs. for 5 yrs. They took me off the shots last yr.

The worst part was I had no family support but the best part is I am cancer free and living sort of a normal life...just more susceptible to pneumonia and anemia.

Life is precious. I am blessed and only pray others can survive as I have. Just never give up and pray. PRAY. GOD GOT ME THROUGH IT ALL.

God bless you,

I too had pretty much the same results & was cancer free for 11 years.  Just be sure you are followed year after year after year.  Do not stop at 5 years or 10 years.  I am taking Sutent now for a secondary tumour outside of my lung, which is RCC.  Best of luck to you & stay positive.

My husband had a 17 year span from the initial renal cell dx until discovered the second time.  There is hope!  As advised by others, keep your annual checkups and live healthy.
