I would appreciate hearing from anyone who has used, or has information about noscapine for the treatment of prostate cancer, including dosage, length of treatment, results, etc.

Thank you.

Hi paladino  Where did you find this out  All I know about It is, a while ago it was being  use as an anti-cough medication. Ive read  Noscapine was originally proposed as an anti-cancer agent in the early 1960's. but  major studies of its  anti-cancer effects were only done in recent times Do you know  Noscapine, a non-addictive derivative of opium, where have you read this can you let me know

I think there are other more effusive way to fight prostrate cancer like what Im on Cheers Ray

Hi Ray, Thanks for your reply. If you Google noscapine there is information, but it is rather vague. A Dr. Barkin is doing research. I am going to investigate his research more. I have been doing "watchful waiting", but think I may have to try a different approach soon. What treatment are you using for your prostate cancer? Paladino

Hi Paladino mate I don’t know if  noscapine  for the treatment of prostate cancer, is going to work. A lot of treatment don’t work on prostrate cancer like chemo alone wont work on prostrate cancer. Unless you have 150mg a day of vitamin D with it. Taking 5mg evey hour, with the chemo it will work.  last year I was doing grate on just high dose vitamin BIO C ,10mg a day. ( that’s  vitamin C the BIO part of it gets it in the cell better ). But  after a year or so the vitamin C stopped working I don’t know if you know this but prostrate cancer is sex hormone dependant. In our case its needs  testosterone. Take away the sex hormone testosterone and the cancer dies there are about three ways to do this. Two I would not recommend as they only  last a few years The two I would not recommend are  removal of the tesicals, and sex hormone theory. What I would recommended is isoflavones these mimic the sex hormone   testosterone A few month ago My PSA was 13.2. I found I had urine retention (I found I couldn’t pee, very well) So I went on the Dr budwig diet  and started having red clover. I stuck to the diet of no sugary foods, no cows milk, and no Red meat, and in 6 weeks my PSA test showed it had dropped from a PSA of 13.2 to a PSA of 11.2. Its the isoflavones. In the red clover it got  my PSA down I know it well get it down Red clover and soy beans has the isoflavones in it if you want to find out more you can do a search on the net or  go in to the message board on CC  and look up prostrate cancer and have a look at some of the post in like from SkiDan mine is jcr65566  take care Ray

I used noscapine for 8 months.  My PC is a slow growing cancer.  When starting noscapine it was at 5.2 and 8 months later it was at 4.7.  Since I stopped it my psa has risen to 6.9.

Noscapine works best on rapidly growing cancers.  My daughter in law had stage 4 breast cancer.  She was on the noscapine after her traditional treatments and it has worked very well for her.

If you would like to know about dose, where to purchase the product and side effects, please send me a private e-mail. I will be happy to help you any way I can.

Thanks for writing. My gleason score is 4+3 and my PSA has shot up to 15.8. I am considering brachytherapy. I am curious as to why you stopped using noscapine when your PSA was dropping? Side effects? What are doing now in place of noscapine? Yes, I would like to know details on dosage, purchasing, etc. Thank you very much. Good news about your daughter in law! ----quote------ On 3/26/2009 kent1947 wrote: I used noscapine for 8 months. She was on the noscapine after her traditional treatments and it has worked very well for her.If you would like to know about dose, where to purchase the product and side effects, please send me a private e-mail. I stopped due to side effects.  I was taking 2000 mg of noscapine base each day.  The dose was taken four times a day at 500 mg per day.

There are in fact side effects although not as severe as traditional methods of dealing with PC.  Some of the side effects are a marked decrease in blood pressure.  My BP is naturally low but while on noscapine my normal BP got down to the 58/90 range.  Many times I felt light headed and was short of energy a lot.  Another side effect was not being able to get to sleep easily.  I spent many nights up into the wee hours. Another side effect is the depression of sexual desire.  I never felt so sexless in my life.  It was as if sex didn't exist.

If you try the product and decide to come off it, don't do what I did and go cold turkey.  There are withdrawal symptoms.  I was hard to be around and couldn't sleep at all.  I felt my blood pressure would rise and fall rapidly.  It was not pleasant, and if I do noscapine over again and decide to stop taking it, I will taper off over a period of weeks.

The cost is a factor in why I stopped taking the product.  I found a US source that sells the product much less than the pharmacy in Israel but it is stil not cheap.  I was paying $1.80 per capusule (500 MG). Four times a day, that adds up to $ 7.20 per day and $ 216.00 per month.

If my PC starts to become more aggressive, I will go back on noscapine.  It works best when it interfers with the tublin formation in rapidly dividing cells and as far as I can tell that is not me at this time.

Another product that seems to work like noscapine at the cell level is Paw Paw.  This product costs a lot less than noscapine but also has side effects.  If you are interested in more info on this google it or send me a e-mail and I will let you know more.

Hi....

You mentioned an alternate source for Noscapine at a cheaper price than the Isarael pharmacy, could you please let me know where this is?

Hi there,

in the UK we have had a few people starting on Noscapine after an article in the Daily Mail Newspaper.

In contradiction to published evidence, Noscapine is not available over the counter in any cough medicines in the UK. It is now a "special" product and requires a prescription.

Paula at Dickson Chemist in the UK can help you get Noscapine.

Kent,  I'm trying to find how to get Noscapine here in the US.  I have stage IV lung cancer and am currently on my 2nd line of chemotherapy with (it appears) poor response.  This looks like a ray of hope in an otherwise hopeless situation.  I'd appreciate any information you can share. Thanks, Irene
