hi, i am 27 and was diagnosed with small cell neuroendocrine cancer of the cervix 3 years ago. initially there was no spread and i had a radical hysterectomy, radiation and chemo - cisplatin and etoposide. i was cancer free for a year, then it recurred in my lung, i had a wedge resection thoractomy and was clear for 6 months. it recurred again in my lung and i had 5 weeks of radiation. 3 months after that it recurred again in my lungs and my surgeon was unable to remove the tumour by removing my lower left lobe of the lung as the cancer was in a difficult spot so now i am having more chemo: carbo platin and taxol. this chemo regime is much easier than my first chemo as it is only once every three weeks, not every day like last time. my oncologist is unsure whether this treatment will work and suggests a stem cell transplant - using my own stem cells - if my next ct scan shows that im not responding to the carbo taxol. has anyone had a stem cell transplant for this cancer? the past 3 years have been hard, but also great, i married my long term boyfriend in las vegas, travelled around the US and asia and am really positive living life and having as much fun as possible, and most importantly eating heaps of chocolate!!

Hello. I have been reading your post and the other one about small cell. I have seen this cancer my younger sister had. If you look Meredith posted a lot on this message noard about small cell cancer.

If you have any questions, please let me know. I am always happy to help. Good luck with your treatment. I know they can be so rough.
