Its been a couple of months now, and she has been on pills that don't seem to be helping.  At a recent appt to her oncologist , he decided to try and put my aunt on a patch, called Fentanyl.   Well, we were pretty excited as he told us all to expect that my aunt would be pain free with this patch.  3 days later, nothing, she is in (if not more).. pain and the patch isn't helping her at all.   Has anyone been on this patch?..  did it help..  and what did seem to work for you?..

Thanks, appreciate it..  her chemo will start next couple of weeks but its so hard to see her in this much pain.

Hello, you did not say what dosage of fentynyl your aunt is on.  It is a long acting drug and I have seen it work really well.  As an ex nurse, I have used it a lot for patients.  However, sometimes there would be breakthru pain where another med was needed with the fentanyl.  You may want to let the doc know that it is not working and he may need to increase the dosage of the patch or give her something to go along with it.  My best to you.  iris

Hi I have advance prostrate cancer.  O your poor aunt, I know about Fentanyl by the other patient on CC who talk about  it, so I know  that it an opioid, but  really its a synthetic opiate, narcotic, and  an analgesia pain killer. Just be carful of it as it been know to depresses the central nervous system, and respiratory function,. so she might find it a bit hard to berthed Last year a scan showed I had the start of bone cancer. It was in my lower back and my ribs. my naturopath Debby  put me on very large dose of vitamin C, (or BIO C ) 10mg a day for quite a while, also no sugary foods, no milk, no red meat, Debby  told me that for my body to process red meat it has to use an important enzyme that our body uses to dissolves protein to fight cancer. What it dose is dissolves the protein in the protein membrane around cancer cells. About two month ago the vitamin C  stop working, I know this as  I found my PSA went up three points and  I developed  urine retention. So ask my doctor can I have an other bone scan, when I had the scan it showed that the cancer in my bone had disappeared. but I still had cancer in my prostrate. .So looks like the vitamin C worked grate for a while. it was taking the weight of the world off of me. over the last few weeks I been on  red clover

and the Dr Bidwig diet.

My PSA since has dropped back down from 13.8 to 11.2.  and my free PSA gone up 2 points so some thing working .Last year  I was told by my doctor because bone has a poor blood supply, it really hard to treat it with chemo, or radiation, he also said, The only way he know to treat this type of cancer is to take it out. Can you please tell me what is your aunt  primary cancer site I know here body will keep  getting use to the Fentanyl so they will just keep increasing the dose  I wish you and your aunty well  just sorry I cant helop much  Take care Ray
